T-I-M-E Management Tips

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

Everyone seems to not have enough time. Always busy, busy, busy!

Here's a little definition we use for effective TIME Management.

T = Type of Task

I = Intensity & Inspiration

M = Money Making

E = Engagement & Execution

These 4 areas should very quickly help you to allocate your precious time each day. Or help your team to allocate their time.

We have spoken before about Big Hits, Quick Hits and No's; by breaking it down further, the T-I-M-E analogy helps you to prioritise quickly and more effectively.

T = Type of Task

What is the task? How critical is it? Where does it sit in the overall scheme of things?

Being clear on what is being asked is very important otherwise we can go around in circles if the request brief is not clear, as well as the scope of the brief.

I = Intensity & Inspiration

How resources intensive is the Task? Does it need a small team on it or is it just best delegated to the single person? How easy will the task be understood and driven - does it need a little inspiration to gently push it along?

M = Money Making

Whats the return or value of even allocated time to this task? Is it a 'nice to do' or a real 'must do'? Not everything has a specific number to it, but everything has some form of value, even if intangible.

E = Engagement & Execution

Who has to be engaged to get the task done? When will it be executed? How do we ensure clear follow through and no roadblocks or diversions?
